Advanced Efficiency
Understanding the role of efficiency is becoming increasingly important. When selecting a fan for an application usually there will be multiple fans which can actually meet the operating point and a selection needs to accommodate many factors. The two most important are usually cost (of sale) and efficiency (to meet regulatory pressures and operating cost implications.
WebFAN has the tools needed to make these important decisions,

Comparative Values
Fan efficiency and the Fan Energy Index (FEI) metric are fully supported in WebFAN. When specifying a required operating point and searching for fans that provide a fit, both efficiency and FEI values are listed for each respective fan in the results list. This allows the person making the selection get a clear picture of the comparative efficiency performance of each fan and can help with making the decision of which fan to choose. The results list is generated with a sort order by default, listing fans in order of efficiency.
This Efficiency can be static or total depending on how the selector has been configured and the data for the fans when loaded into the system.
Advanced efficiency and FEI panel
It is possible to analyze a selected fan using the Advanced Efficiency and FEI panel. This details everything you should need to know about the selections with an efficiency summary and a calculated FEI with the important details on how it was calculated. It also details the actual worked FEI calculations for you which can be kept if ever need for auditing purposes or proof of regulation compliance.
This panel also shows you the FEI bubble output for the fan which is a useful visualization tool.

Cost and Efficiency Analysis
If fan pricing information is entered into the system then it is possible with WebFAN to do cost vs efficiency analysis. This allows a fan which meets the required efficiency performance but also has an attractive sale price be selected. This is really important as there is often a trade-off of upfront cost vs running cost
Additionally, the Usage Calculator can allow you to see the cost implications over the lifetime of the fan and estimate its relative carbon footprint which may be important if the application has green directives.
At Computair, we take efficiency very seriously. We know that it is possible to achieve good efficiency values in your selections whilst still remaining competitive.
