WebFAN extensions allow you to add functionality to your base selector quickly and easily. They can be applied when you first start using the software, or at any subsequent time when it’s needed and/or suits your budget.
Extensions should be considered as ‘off the shelf’ additions, but like everything with WebFAN, we can provide custom modifications and additions if you need them.
Here’s a list of just a few of our extensions which are currently available.
The base selector allows selection of fans and creates a datasheet for the selected fans. Additionally, the Project Handling extension allows your users to save their selections in our cloud for later reference and use. It allows for the building up of selections in a single project and allows these to be re-used for similar later projects for speed and ease.
Enhance your fan selection by including calculated sound using the AMCA 301 standard or varying different methods depending on your data.
You must be able to provide reference sound data for one or more operating points providing the fan speed, volume flow and the octave sound values in raw sound power Lw. All the tools to import your reference sound data are supplied in the admin/inventory area to make the process quick and easy for you.
The base selector is supplied with our standard datasheet templates which you can pick from. If you’d like your own customized datasheet showing what you want, where you want it, we can create it for you. All we ask is that you supply us with a sample of what you want and we’ll build it into the system for you.
The Usage Statistics Analyzer extension allows you to view what users are selecting and the volume of use of the application. It provides the information both in graphical and tabular form and allows for the data to be downloaded in spreadsheet form for marketing purposes.
If you want to allow users outside your company to use the application, such as sales agents and affiliates, you will require this extension. It allows you to manage the extended user base and has registration facilities for known affiliated companies and new companies who may want to apply to work with you.
This extension allows you to analyze a fan’s performance once you have selected from your results on a main search. You can click on the fan chart or move the sliders to get differing operating point information for the selected fan.
The multipoint facility allows your users to select a fan and then analyze that fan over a variety of operating points. This can include automatically finding points along the system curve so the effects of speed control can be seen. In addition to seeing the multiple operating points in the software, it is also possible to include them in the generated datasheets.
This module provides extensive facilities to handle fan grids/arrays. The enhanced search engine can select the number of fans in the array for you depending on your requirements as well as still giving per fan details. Applications can vary but include Air Handlers (AHUs) for datacentres, retrofits for large airflows and many others.
If your centrifugal fans have variable wheel width you can use this extension to search using those different widths. This can often improve efficiency and can be used for simple flow control if speed control is not being used.
As a further extension to variable wheel width handling, the selector can be enhanced to select the optimum wheel width for you. This is a great feature for improving efficiency but with the same fan.
If you only have a single set of data for a fan within a range, this extension can use the fan laws to provide virtual data for all the other fan sizes. Not as accurate as testing each fan but in some cases a practical solution where data is lacking.
This extension supports variable pitch axial fans and will suggest the best pitch to use. It is used in conjunction with speed control, if available, to hit the exact operating point. When speed control is not present in very large flow applications, such as mining ventilation, it is vital to provide a relatively close performance to what’s required.
Perhaps more of an engineering function, the selector can accurately predict the variable pitch to meet the operating point. Again, this is especially relevant if speed control is not being applied to the fan
The base selector can handle either fan wheels of completed fan assemblies with motors included, or in custom jobs where a different motor may be used, depending on the operating point’s power requirement. This extension allows you to select the best motor for the job. It will require you to upload your motor data and provides all the tools to assist you with this.
If you are using custom AC induction motors and require speed control, you will need to specify a variable frequency drive (VFD) unit. Used in conjunction with the custom motor selection, once a motor has been selected, a VFD can be selected matching the current requirements of the motor.
Jet fan selection for ventilation/evacuation purposes is handled differently from normal fan selection. Thrust and velocity are used as operating point values rather than flow and pressure. This extension provides a dedicated jet fan selector and all the supporting tools to handle the underlying data.
This extension allows for silencer selection, accommodating inline pressure drops, sound reduction and regeneration. This extension provides a separate selection facility from the main fan selector.
This extension provides the ability to select relief vents/cowls for set dimension and flow constraints. It accommodates any pressure drops that may need to be considered when selecting the fan that drives the airflow.
This module enhances the security of the system by providing two-factor logon facilities where the user needs to respond to an email when they logon from somewhere new. It also provides logging of the region where the users connect from and provides country connection blocking if you wish to restrict access on a country by country basis.
